The Fruitmarket Gallery is proud to present the first solo exhibition in Scotland of the work of American artist Ingrid Calame, whose beautifully-coloured, intricate drawings and paintings have a specific, if abstracted relationship to the world. Calame's paintings and drawings all begin with the artist tracing marks, stains and cracks on the ground. Back in the studio, the tracings are combined, layered and re-traced in coloured pencil, and painted in enamel or, more recently oil paint. The paintings and drawings that result from this singular process are beautiful and intelligent abstract works. Displayed in a gallery, they retain their connection with the world outside at several removes, exerting an oddly insistent presence.

This work is a guidebook for clinicians who are involved in treating depressive patients and also serves the research scientists who are working on the psychopharmacological mechanisms of antidepressant actions and psychopathological mechanisms underlying mood disorders. Mood disorders such as major depressive disorder (MDD), bipolar disorder (BPD) and seasonal affective disorder (SAD) are the most disabling disorders that are among the most expensive of all medical illnesses. The pathophysiology of mood disorders is very complex and involves many mechanisms like circadian rhythm disruption, sleep abnormalities, melatonin rhythm abnormalities and alterations in melatonin receptor mechanisms,...

In recent years, with the introduction of new molecules into the arsenal of psychiatric therapy, the historical significance of classical psychotropic drugs to modern society has been lost. Keep in mind that its modern history is very short, born in the 1950s with the introduction of lithium, chlorpromazine, and imipramine, known as the "revolution of psychopharmacology." The purpose of this work it to review how psychoactive substances have been discovered, developed, and applied over the millennia. The text presents the drugs that are used in medicine, their origins, the principles of biological theories of mental disorders, and contribution of basic research.

In recent years, ADHD is one of the neuropsychiatric diseases receiving more attention in scientific literature. During this decade, numerous studies were published on the implementation of diagnostic criteria and assessment tools for clinical research and the social impact of the disease, which continued to discuss genetic and neurobiological aspects. Psychostimulants are highly effective medications for the treatment of ADHD, and the development of long-acting s...
